High Powered Component Speakers

Hey im new to the forum i plan on going all out on a system i have half of it so far but i was needing to know is capacitors only needed for subs or are they good for door speakers also? I have a pair of polk audios they are 100 watts rms and a pair of alpine type r's which are 110 rms would i really need a cap for 400 watts rms i am getting the 2007 series rockford fosgate 600-4 to power them

Re: High Powered Component Speakers

It depends bro, if your power is coming straight from your battery, I would put it in. The capacitor will filter your power and cut all the engine feedback out, and that is really a good thing to get rid of. If you want your power to come straight from the battery I posted a really good way of hooking an amp up to the power so you san have more control over it. Look up the KILL SWITCH, NO REMOTE post, it should be under the electical grouping. personally I hate the remote wire and I would never use it on someones vehicle, especially with a huge system... but for your system, I would put it in, if nothing else to cut the feedback and you might want to add power in the future so its just a good thing to have. hope this helps

Re: High Powered Component Speakers

my system is going to be 2400 watts rms ia getting a 10 farad cap but if it only has 1 o gauge wire to it and like 2 o gauge outputs i would think that would under power one of the amps so you will know what amps and speakers im using ill list my system 1.(2) power 2 or t2 subs by rockford fosgate 12s 2. the t20001bd amp by rockford fosgate 3. 10 farad cap by rockford 4. 600-4 2007 series 4 channel rockford for door speakers 5. polk audio components 100 watts rms 6. alpine type r's 110 watts rms 7. kenwood ddx7019 8.3 sixty.2 signal processor for the eq its rockford fosgate also ok now that you know you think i should run both amps of that cap which is taking in 0 gauge and putting out a 0 and a 4 gauge? or get another? if you know much about ports what do you think about round ports? and would it hurt for the box volume to be a little off if its ported i plan on porting it with a 4inch port for each sub and get the as close as i can with the airspace im not sure on how long the port should be either sorry for all the questions but i dont want to get all finished and blow the subs or they distort pretty bad

Re: High Powered Component Speakers

Ok let me see if I have this straight, you are going to be bumpin 2400 watts minimum, ok thats fine. Well, ok heres the deal if your gonnaa be puttin in that sort of system then use one cap, but leave extra power wire just in case your lights start dimming when you turn it up.
If that happens, then install another cap but heres the thing, caps are mostly meant for providing the amp with the sudden burst of power when a big bass hit comes along so, that is something to consider. If your ever are thinking of upgrading your system I would look into a high output alternator or battery, here are some ideas on that:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7344_Kinetik+HC+2400.html for the battery
and look up
http://stores.ebay.com/Iraggi-Alternator-and-Electronics ....for the alternators.
Also, porting, well the difference between a ported box and an enclosed box is that a ported box gives the bass a little meaner hit while the enclosed box gives it a well rounded clean hit... dont worry, if you dont port your box nothing should rip. Im hitting 4600 watts out of my box and its not ported.
it also depends on the size of the box, if its a big one, you might want to port it but if its a little smaller there wont be much of a difference...when it comes to ports though there are ups and downs, with sealed boxes they hit hardand clean and there really is no prob, with a ported box you need to take more time to tune the box to find the hit you want. personally when it comes to round or other ports the only real difference that I see is the area of the hole. so do whatcha like, I hope Ive answered all your questions, if not then just post something else and ill respond to it, I check the site at least once a day so youll get a response soon.
Make it Bump man!!
